Hmmmmmmmmm...
Ok, this has gotta be in no particular order
because I hate trying to order things like that.
- Nausicaa. This is a gorgeous, gorgeous movie. I
was just blown away when I saw it.
- Gundam Wing. I feel not a whit of shame for
loving this show. It has deep, complex
characters, cool mechs, and a fascinating plot
that carries through the entire show. I've had a
difficult time getting into any of the other
Gundams, but I love Wing.
- Fushigi Yuugi. In a lot of ways, this is the
one that started it all for me. I saw FY and
there was no going back.
- Utena. Anime as mind-bending artform. It's
almost a religious experience of a sort.
- Card Captor Sakura. Love this show. Love it.
It's Clamp, it makes you feel wonderful, and the
art is gorgeous.
- Escaflowne. Gorgeous, wonderful piece of work.
So groundbreaking in so many ways. One of the
animes that guys and girls can watch together and
dig for totally different reasons. The movie is
one of the most gorgeous anime I think I've seen.
- Neon Genesis Evangelion. Anime as mind-bending,
religious experience artform, part two.
- Yami no Matsuei and X. I put these here
together because I love the shows in large part
because of the manga. YnM as an anime was, in my
opinion, fairly well executed. It lacks a lot of
the manga's depth, but the gorgeous art makes up
for it. X didn't fare quite so well in my eyes,
but just seeing those beloved characters animated
so beautifully is enough to send me into fangirl
paradise.
- Gravitation. This show makes me laugh, it makes
me feel good, and it can be wonderfully romantic.
Truly a favorite.
- Cowboy Bebop. Awesome show. Another of those
that I think achieves more of a crossover,
although not nearly to the extent of Esca.
There are so many others I love. I'm CLAMP
obsessed, but a lot of that obsession is based
around the manga. Rayearth is a favorite of mine,
it just didn't quite make it into my ten.
Miyazaki is a genius, nuff said. Marmalade Boy,
the ultimate in shoujo, and Sailor Moon, the
ultimate magical girl show...
I could go on for days...
