I wouldn't say that this is a list of the best
anime ever but these are the anime that I
inevitably collected the entire series for. (Or
movies I sprung for the DVD etc)
*Tenshi ni Narumon aka I'm Gonna Be An Angel(The
only anime that actually has an entire celbook
dedicated to it. And the DVD finally came out!)
*Neon Genesis Evangelion (Not rich enough to have
an entire celbook dedicated to this. ^^;)
*Revolutionary Girl Utena (Actually preferred
movie to TV series--Movie Anthy! (*_*)--, but
both are good)
*Crest of the Stars (preferred the first series to
the subsequent Battleflag of the Stars sequels,
but the sequels are also okay)
* X TV (Liked the beginning, adored the middle,
pretended the ending never happened)
*12 Kingdoms aka Juuni Kokuki (Still being
fansubbed. Must see more!!!!! Somewhat surprised
it hasn't been lisenced yet. I guess someone will
get around to it eventually.)
*Perfect Blue (Liked its creepy style. Didn't find
it that confusing when I watched it-- maybe
because I was warned first?)
*Tenshi na Konamaiki aka A Cheeky Angel(A bit
surprised how much I ended up liking this
especially with the shoddy animation in the first
couple of eps. Anyway, along with 12K its the only
fansub series I'm still following.)
*Heroic Legend of Arslan aka Arslan Senki (OAV
series was a bit uneven but pretty to watch. Was
really saddened that it was dropped in the middle
of the storyline)
*Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust(I've been following
this movie since its production was announced on
Masters of Animation on the scifi channel 3-4
years ago. Joined a ML for it and cosplayed as
Charlotte an entire year before it was released.
After all that, wasn't blown away by it as much as
I hoped I'd be. I probably built up expectations
too high. Anyway, still something nice to watch)
Honorable Mention Goes To...
*Nazca (Whose concept I adored but whose
implementation could be worked on-- ie cutscenes.
As in putting some in *please*. (@_@)
*Sailor Moon (Which I liked more when I was
younger. The Monster of the Day format tends to
annoy me now. However, I still really like the
original season. Oddly, Neptune & Pluto my
favorite characters from it don't appear in that
season. ^^;)
*Ai no Kusabi (Heh heh heh... >:)
*Now & Then, Here & There (I've seen bits and
pieces of this over the years, most recently
seeing the middle episodes at Otakon. It seems
really good, although I'd like to replace the
irrepresibly optimistic main hero with someone
like Sarah instead.)
*Mirage of Blaze (This might score higher if I
ever see more than six episodes of it. The manga
synopsis that I've read seem very interesting.)
*Vampire Princess Miyu TV (Despite everyone
telling me otherwise, I ended up preferring the TV
series to the OAV. I liked the darkness of it,
although I would have liked a bit more of an
overarching storyline rather than the random
MOTD-- but whatchagonnado? Anyway, there was a
distinct 'DAMN!' moment for me at the end of the
TV series that was absent from the OAVs.) |
