The only way I can seem to use the scanner 
function of my HP OfficeJet Pro on XP is to use 
the XP Scanner and Camera Wizard, instead of the 
scanner software that came with the printer's CD-
ROM.

But each time I scan pictures now, the resulting 
images are WAY too dark.  And adjusting the 
settings on the XP Scanner and Camera Wizard 
doesn't do anything significant to cure this 
prob
