I have to agree with you in that their min max 
bid system is not all that great.  I'm 2 for 3 in 
their auctions and both times I have won the cel 
at my max bid.  I have always gotten an email 
from them within 3 days of the auction ending, 
notifying me that I had won.  My suggestion is to 
politely email them, seeing if you won the 
particular auction your interested in.
