I HAVE gone over $1000 on a cel but I don't 
regret it. Sovereign's advice is sound; if you 
can't afford it then don't.
The way I see it is that if in the future that 
cel every didn't mean that much to me then I'd 
sell it - if I break even or even make on it then 
great, but if I make a loss then I'd just have to 
shrug my shoulders and say 'that's depreciation 
for ya!'
