Basically, if I were going to sell something VERY
nice, I'd sell it here or not at all. When I have
low-end things to sell, whatever doesn't sell
here (assuming I even bother to offer it up here)
just gets dumped on Ebay because I know I can get
rid of it. Sometimes with lot remainders from
Yahoo Japan, that's the only way to get rid of
them. I don't have enough space *anywhere* to
store things I'm not interested in, besides, who
knows if something that I think of as junk
wouldn't be a prize to someone else?

My opinion is that even a couple bucks beats just
throwing it out. . . And sometimes I get a much
higher bid than I expect! On Ebay I even managed
to sell the plain glass I had leftover from
framing cels (the non-UV protective glass that
came with the frames I used).

Despite the high junk content, I still watch Ebay
cel auctions fairly closely. I collect things
that have a high chance of showing up in those
"unknown", cheap cel lots. . . I always hope for
Miyu shinma, and the classmates from Nuku Nuku TV
are often *only* found like that because no one
knows them. It was an "unknown" cel lot on Ebay
which produced my only cel of the Pretty Sammi
villain I liked so much.

But Ebay's cheap, yard-sale style environment
doesn't stop me from recognizing when a really
nice cel is listed. So why don't I bid? Usually,
if I want something really nice, I wait for a
chance to buy it off some site directly. Lately
I've been quickly losing the mood to babysit
auctions and on Ebay, if you can't snipe, you
usually can't win unless you put in a laughably
huge overbid.

I'm equally tired of laughably huge overbids.

In a way, I think it's something I predicted
earlier which is coming true. . . Too many people
decided to make a killing on Ebay by selling
everything there. Too many people sold off their
cels with auction-style "offers". There's only so
long that any group of people can keep paying
absolute TOP DOLLAR for everything they buy. I
think I'm not the only one tired of auctions, or
personal "pseudo-auctions". If someone wants my
business, the easiest way to get it is to put a
nice solid *price* on the item for sale. Just
tell me what the heck you want for it instead of
making me guess and/or fight for it.

So even when the cel might be worth bidding on,
with my recent attitude, whatever it is has to be
very much MORE impressive for it to feel like
it's worth the effort. . . Even then, I'll often
just give up in advance if the auction doesn't
end at a time I can babysit it.

That at least is why I'm not bidding, and I don't
think I'm alone in some of these thoughts.

Many Sharp Smiles,
