Yea, I liked boogiepop, or what I've seen of it
(I think eps. 1-5). It has a very stylized feel
and artwork. The stories are kind of like little
30 min character montages that loop in and out of
each other. As you watch them, you will start to
notice characters and sometimes events taking
place that you saw from a different point of view
in a previous epsiode.
Basic plot is that there is a serial killer going
around, and the rumors are that it is
this "Boogiepop Phantom". There are lots of
weird X-filesish things that go down in each
episode per the main character of that episode,
but I think that it is all somehow linked back to
an event that you see from time to time of a
bright column of light shooting from some source
and radiating throughout the city. It is somehow
affecting things, but I'm not sure how, and from
what I understand, the show leaves it a little
open ended. But it is definitly paced like lain,
which is slooow at times, but pays off due to the
intricate weaving and twisting of the plot. It's
the kind that grips you so you have to watch the
next episode to figure out what in the name of
shazbot is going on! What does all this
mean!?!?!? I've been meaning to watch the rest
of the series, but have not gotten around to it.
In terms of cels, there are quite a few
characters, as most episodes focus on a differet
person, but the primary reoccuring character is
the person hunting boogiepop, Nagi Kirima. Nice
cels of the minor characters can be had for a
decent price, but cels of her will sell for a
good bit of change. Another popular cel is one
of Jounichi and his sadness spiders (ep. 2 I
think). Main reason being that the show has very
dark and muted colors throughout, giving most of
the cels a somewhat plain look. But the spiders
in that episode are very brightly colored,
flourescent and such. It's makes them a popular
cel in the series. Take a look around some of
the fan sites if you want more detailed info on
the plot, as I've only seen so much of it. |
