I don't know if I would say 'suffer' - that makes 
it sound a little too harsh.  

Komatteru usually means troubled, frustrated or 
in some cases confused.  I kind of like "We are 
troubled people" - 
it sort of implies that the problems aren't just 
of the external sort.  ^_^
