Hi moon_sushi,
I have a few cels that came in this type of Toei
folder and I may get some flak for this, but I
open the folder and take them out to scan them.
The folder cuts off a *lot* of the image and I
have had cels where sketches were included that
would be impossible to see/remove without opening
it.
The problem is the glue they use to seal the
folder is industrial stength and makes the folder
very difficult to open. So I cut open the folder
along the top with a very sharp utility knife
always being careful to not damage the cel. I
have found this causes much less damage to the
folder itself and makes a nice clean, barely
detectable cut.
IMHO it does not decrease the value of the cel to
open or remove it. The folder is not really part
of the production process and is promotional in
nature, so I personally don't put much value in
it. But of course other collectors may see it
much differently.
Very cute cel, BTW!!
