If you can provide a scan, it might be easier for 
other people to help you.  ^_^

It does sound like a layout to me from your 
description.  For now, you could always be broad 
and refer to it as a 'pre-production drawing,' a 
term I feel is all encompassing.

I have a few images up on my site (I really need 
to scan more for it, maybe this weekend? ^^;) 
that may help.
