I wonder: is the voice recording done
after the animation or before? My
recollection of "The Making of Beauty and the
Beast" was that the voice track was done between
the storyboarding and the the key animation, and
that the voice actors were videotaped so that the
character designers could get ideas from their
facial expressions. Plus Disney has often used
voice actors like Nathan Lane and Robin Williams
who are notorious ad-libbers.
(On the other hand, isn't the Robin Williams
character in "Mrs Doubtfire" fired from his job
as a voice actor because he has trouble lip-
synching pre-produced animation footage of a
bluebird who's smoking a cigarette?) |
