I have a very interesting question. I went to an
american animation store the other day and was talking
with the owner. Apparently american cartoons that are
made via CG don't have any sketches that are made or
used. So no "genga" if you will. How come japanese
make genga for CG and americans don't? I guess I'm
surprised there are genga at all when the animation is
supposed to be computer generated. I remember
watching how they made the movie "Anastasia" and
there was NO drawing on paper involved. It was done
on screen. Why the difference? Any ideas? The
owner of the store was shocked to learn that japanese
CG has "genga"....sketches. I showed him some and
he was in awe. Just curious if y'all knew anything about
this :)
