I knew that there were several very enthusiastic 
Japanese collectors and all their usernames came up 
in this auction.  In fact, several of them already own 
some of the omakase cels I think.  Still it is incredible 
that this cel went for that much.  There were several 
others cels of this type for sale last summer that were 
nicer and went for considerably less.  So I think the 
reasoning stands, the value of an item is entirely 
dependent on the number of bidders x the intensity of 
their collecting desire.  As much as I loved this cel, I still 
maintain it would be nicer to have a new car...  
Although I have to admit that I have been part of the 
feeding frenzy at times.
