If you are interested in anime cels, NewType Anime
in San Francisco some approx. six books from older
series. Kinokunikya has some low grade cels, but
it is hardly worth the time IMO. As for NewType,
despite being one of the largest former dealers in
cels, the owner, Jeffrey is a tad difficult to
negotiate with. Most of the high grade cels were
picked over YEARS ago by the likes of Rick, Yann,
Young and Francis. Still you might find something
else in the store worthy of your time. Also, they
have some interesting models if you are interested
in that stuff. However, I would suggest if you
like models go to Heroes Club on Clement Street,
between 9th and 10th Avenue. NewType Anime use to
be one of the leaders of anime cels when AX was
starting up and there were few to almost NO
dealers. Sadly however with the requirements of
buying tons of random crap low grade cels, just to
potentially get a few high grade cels, Jeffrey
stopped buying from JP and other dealers like Rick
flourished with AnimeWink. You can still catch
NewType anime at AX from time to time, he usually
brings along some of his luscious hottie
daughters, mmm… Kathy. :P Lastly, if you have
transportation try visiting Nikaku Animart which
is out of the city. In addition to Nikaku, there
are a TON of small stores carrying LD, dvds,
manga, artbooks and other collectibles. I strongly
recommend you visit Anipike and investigate (by
calling the stores first) which ones might carry
items from series you collect. Happy hunting! |
