Well, I guess my reply to this isn’t so much a
post saying whether your should start making
fancels again or not, however I will say this….
The reason why I make fancels is because it’s an
outlet that lets me vent out whatever
frustrations I have had from the day of work
hell, financial stresses, marriage stresses, and
everyday annoyances. Sitting down with my paint
laden art table, drawers of acetate and paper,
rulers, brushes, and airbrush, and soft music -
just makes me feel at peace.
Granted, I get flustered at times with difficult
areas (airbrushing and backgrounds T__T), but it
drives me to go on, just because I love the
feeling I get when I “conquer” a complicated
piece that I have worked over 40+ hours on. It
gives me a feeling of accomplishment. ^^
I usually spend about 5-7 hours a night painting,
inking, planning updates with programmers, to go
along with working at my job from hell, and
everything else. Why do I go on? Well, the reason
above is one of them. But another thing is the
cel collectors. A lot of the collectors I talk to
are patient, understanding and very nice people.
I even hope to someday meet some of these people
and sit down a drool over cels with them ^^ ……
What’s even more interesting, is that even though
they know that at times it can be a long wait,
they don’t mind….. And when I do finish their
piece, whether it be a background, a custom
designed character, or a cel from a screenshot of
a series, it gives me a good feeling to know that
they are happy with my work and I made their day
a little happier ---
If you are into making fancels for the profit, I
would definitely say this isn’t for you. The
money I make from the cels I do, pretty much goes
right back into the supplies I buy to make them.
This is a hobby that I enjoy, though stressful at
times, I still love…. Making friends, trying new
techniques, and making people is happy is good
enough for me and that is why I continue to make
them ^^ So if you think that making fancels is
backbreaking tedious work, then maybe fancels
isn’t something you should do and maybe you
should try another hobby that you might enjoy
instead….
