Well, I guess the "why?" part was addressed to
people who don't put them all up, but I shall
give a little explanation of why I put them all
up, as well.
Frankly, I wouldn't buy a cel if I didn't love it
enough to put it up on display. I've heard some
people mention cels they buy, but don't put up,
with the implication that they're somehow too
ashamed of these cels to show them off. I really
don't get that. ^_^;; I don't really care too
much if people think some of my cels aren't great-
-I buy them because I love 'em all for one reason
or another. As for freebies, I think it's nice
enough of someone to give it as an extra that
I'll put it up, too. Freebies can be very nice.
^_^;; And the itty-bitty crazy ones are just
plain fun, sometimes. While it does take time
and effort to scan them all in, I enjoy it, and I
like looking at my own cels on my webpage, so I
eventually scan them all and put them all up.
Interestingly, I've heard some people complain
about looking through larger galleries, and
(indirect quote, and I don't mean to point
fingers at anyone in saying this,) 'having to
wade through all the lesser cels to get to the
real gems.' I was really shocked to hear such
comments.. For me, the spirit of cel collecting
isn't about finding something that's a sort of
standardized "perfect." I think there's just so
much more to collecting, and a lot of it comes
from what a cel means to each individual. Heck,
I'd love to look through a gallery full of
random disconnected body parts if the person who
bought them really loved them, and said why. ^_^
I suppose it comes back down to everyone having
their own reasons for buying cels, and difference
of taste. Regardless, I personally enjoy the
cels I get (else I really wouldn't get them, ne?)
so I'll show 'em all off, on the chance that
somebody out their agrees. And if not, I'll
still enjoy looking at them, myself. ^_^
I must also apologize for such a disjointed
rant... The woes of doing three things at once.
Meep.
