You might want to order it as it is (1)hardcover,
(2)readable in English, (3)contains all of the
same information and pictures as the original
Japanese one. It was released partly by Miramax
when the film came out in 1999. You should be
able to still find this book at Amazon.
Lastly, the use of CGI in Mononoke Hime was
tastefully done. After reading the "creative
process" section you will understand why Studio
Ghilbi decided to experiment further with the use
of CGI. Details used in the backgrounds,
painting, timing, movement, and naturally for the
FX was partly why Ghilbi used it. However, CGI
alone could not replace the quality cels have and
thus far, Ghilbi has not done away with cel use
completely. Good luck and remember check out the
book all your questions, at least technical ones,
should be answered. ^_^ |
