Oh the things I'll do to avoid working -- even
reply to something very off topic. Well, here's
something to make it ontopic:
Several years back I knew zilch about anime. I
was interested certainly. I saw Akira, remembered
G-Force and other anime from my childhood fondly,
and so forth. My friend and I rented something a
la tentacles which did little to whet my appetite
for the artform. Enter Sailormoon and then my
discovery of cels and then presto...the world of
anime opened up to me. I still get strange looks
from other cel collectors who say "you get
interested in an anime because you liked the
cels?" Yes, often (*blush*) I don't exactly buy
cels before I watch something but I become
interested/educated by what other people have to
say. And I've taken many, many suggestions from
other cel collectors (to whom I curse for making
me want to collect cels from even more series!)
Am I major anime fan or a wannabe? Who really
cares? The only person who cares is the one who
asks -- this isn't a competition. Some people are
so overly concerned about who fits in and who
doesn't. Is the true fan someone who goes to all
the cons? watches all the new stuff? has artbooks
from simply everything? can sing the opening
title?
Well, okay -- I do have sort of an answer for you
-- the true fan would want to know why you like
or watch the things you do, or how to get a hold
of it. Or wouldn't be such a snob about other
anime (I mean I used to harass my roommate about
being a DBZ fan and then I started watching it. I
liked it and I was sure glad to have her around
to answer my "stupid" questions like "why do they
have to be blonde?" etc.)

PS: I haven't heard of Scryed, have never watched
Noir but have heard of it, only seen a couple
episodes of Ecaflowne and I'm not sure I want to
see Weiss Kruz. I can submit an anime resume and
references on request ^_~*
