I can tell you why they don't photocopy the lines 
to the front... it makes it MUCH MUCH MUCH easier 
to paint.  If you have a light touch you can feel 
the very tip of your brush touching the edge, and 
the photocopied edge will hold more liquid paints 
in--don't want even a millimeter to spread 'n go 
over the lines.
