After posting _1_ Vampire Hunter D movie cel on my
website, I received the following letter from Mr.
Rick Alonso from Anime Link.
As this letter is of legal natural and concern any
collectors/dealers that may consider purchasing a
cel from this anime in a japanese shop (or other),
and as it's not a private message but a legal one,
I am posting a copy of it here for your
information.
I am not especialy interested in going into an
argument about the validity of Mr. Alonso claim.
The fact is that many large japanese shops exhibit
and sell such cels openly on a regular basis. As I
have yet to get any proof of Mr. Alonso claims and
as anybody can/may buy such cels from those shops
(which naturaly have other opinion about the
nature of those cels), I won't pronounce myself on
this subject. I am just giving you the
information, as I got them from Mr. Alonso.
Cheers,
Yann Stettler
Mr. Stettler,
Its obvious that you changed your mind about
carrying any VHDB cels in your inventory.
We were just informed of your post and saw your
upload on your website.
Earlier this year, we had sent you a courtesy
email, asking you not to carry the stolen VHD cels
that was on the market, on your website. The cel
in question on your site is from Cut #S14, scene
12, a definite stolen cut # in our records.
We would like your cooperation and request that
you take down the cel immediately. We have no idea
who may buy the cel but since you have many
U.S. customers, there is a strong possiblity that
one of them may buy it. As you know Anime Link &
Urban Vision Entertainment has the exclusive
license to the sales of the VHDB cels in the
United States, so if your U.S. client buys this
cel, we have the legal right and legal means to
confiscate the cel from him/her. In the U.S.,
receiving stolen property, whether one knows it or
not, is against the law. We're sure you don't
want your clients to get into trouble with the
law. If you sell it to a client in any other
country other than the U.S.; Film Link
International will take whatever legal action
necessary to protect their intellectual property.
Since it is only one cel that you uploaded (and
hopefully you don't have anymore except personal
ones), it is in the best interest of everyone
concerned if you obey international license &
copyright laws and take the cel down off your
site. We request that you do the right thing here.
Btw, Film Link International is in the process of
working out seperate deals with the Japanese
dealers (Commit, Zero, Manadarake, Hobby Shop Raxa
etc)to make their sales of the VHDB cel sales
legit & legal. We will be attaching certificates
of authenticity & inventory numbers to all the
VHDB cels. We are not in negotiations with your
business for the wholesale dealer program
at this time. The program will not start until
late summer, so if you are interested in
participating in it, we will consider it based on
your actions in this current situation.
We await your response.
