I think you have drawn an incorrect conclusion. I
don't have a thing against long-time collectors,
many are friends of mine. However, the trait I
pointed out that I don't think is very realistic
(ie: Wanting to keep cel prices the same now as
they were years ago) is only possible for someone
who has collected long enough to see prices rise,
which of course means newbies could not have been
in collecting long enough to experience this
feeling.
My number one beef in all of cel collecting, is
somewhat connected to that, it's the odd notion
that cel sales are not affected by real world
sales principles. I sometimes wonder if it has to
do with age- I'm nearly 35, and after a certain
point, you get more realistic, and less idealistic
about things- you realize how things *are*, not
how you *wished they'd be*. I think it's absurd to
jump on an individual because a cel costs $8 more
than she paid for it- so she slipped up in
describing an aspect of her sale, big deal. You
don't see people jumping on perennial favorites
like Yann, Nick, Taro, etc, etc because they mark
up their cels when selling, and no one should,
because making a profit is a good thing, not a bad
thing, and they are entitled to make money
selling sells if they wish. Just because an
individual does not have a dealer website or is
not a store owner is no reason to thrust them
under a microscope to be scrutinized to death for
bumping their prices up a little. Frankly, I
thought LZ was a bit too kind with her pricing,
and some people got SUPER deals.
