I don't know anything specifically about Eva, but
I've always wondered. . . With so much demand for
the cels, the studio and the company that holds
the rights for the Eva produces would probably
make themselves very rich if they just made a
deal with each other and sold some of the cels to
the public. What I wonder is, why don't they do
this? Where is the motivation or reasoning to
keep the cels under lock and key? Obviously, I
understand the legal responsibilities of the
studio, but what I'm looking for is: What gain is
there for the companies involved to decide *not*
to release the cels? Thoretically, if the cels
are truly still there (which I get the feeling
they are), the company holding the rights to the
produces could change it's mind at any time if it
wanted - it's not like the decision was made and
then was carved in stone and unchangable. So, why
*not* release them?
