Oh and about yer cat, its not a food allergy, its 
partial stress and its also like being a bit 
obsessive compulsive about cleaning themselves.  
My cat does that, she's old, my friend's cat 
licks his SKIN open, and he's old.... is dis an 
older kitty?  Hope that helps...
