Interesting thought about the stealing. In fact, 
I can think of more than one instance of this 
occuring in the past. Example: Since Gainax never 
officially relaeased any Original Evangelion 
cels, guess how a few of them made their way out 
into the public? Granted, some of them were given 
to people in the studio as gifts, and then were 
sold off into the world market, but a few of 
these original cels were no doubt "removed" by 
insiders.
