Yeah, I for one would definitely like to hear a 
full explanation of all of this.  ^_^

A few parts of the Little Mermaid were CG, I know 
that for sure.  Because those parts looked "funky" 
to me in the theatre.  I can recall the staircase 
scene (where Ariel has her back to a column and is 
eavesdropping on Eric) and the final scene where 
the mer-people are waving at the happy color.  At 
least those two scenes were CG.
