Yeah, those wacky Japanese! Over on this side of 
the pond, where the technique was pioneered, they 
call it "Digital Ink and Paint"  and despite 
atempts at automation, the animation is still 
hand drawn (for the 2D style) cause it looks 
better that way.  And animated programs are 
almost *never* broadcast live, due to the 
terrible strain on the animator's wrists.
