Dear Oion,
Whoops! I forgot to answer your other question!
A film cel is not a "real" cel that you would see
on sale on cel dealer sites. Film cels are cut
from the 8 mm or whatever size reel of film that
they show in theaters. You can think of it as a
slide of the film if anyone here remembers slides
and slide shows your family would show you of your
vacation =}. It takes several of these "slides"
to make one second of what you see on the screen,
so if you cut up a reel of film, you can get TONS
of film cels although I think it's SACRILEGE to
do so @_@! You can see some of these film cels on
sale at Suncoast where they probably have some of
the leftover cut up film strips of a Star Trek or
Star Wars movie (sometimes from stuff they pick up
on the editing room floor of the studio) all nice
and encased in a big block of plastic for you to
display! They retail for $15.00 each if it is a
BIG famous movie (Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.), but
I think the fad of film cels has gone out, so I
have seen several for sale for $4.00 each just
sitting in the bargain bins. They look neat, but
it's not a real cel PLUS many are NOT unique
especially if you have a guy who collects old film
reels from the movie theater and just cuts them up
for film cels =6! Some are unique though if they
come from the editing room floor since only one
print (or maybe just a few) of those are made.
Like I said, they look neat, but are cheap and are
NOT real cels. I hope this helps!
Sincerely,
Sonia |
