My favorite animes are 80's cyberpunk stuff, 
especially Bubblegum Crisis and Shirow stuff. The
major characters in these titles are females, and
yet most characters I draw and are males (I am a 
male, so this doesn't have anything to do with 
"cute" guys). My drawing style is also different 
from my favorite anime in that my drawings are 
quick and contoured, whereas Sonada and Shirow 
are precise and very detailed artists. However the
themes in my drawings, and of course my cel 
collection, are very tied with cyberpunk/postapoc
megalopolis stuff, so go figure. I don't really
know about how an anime would affect the gender 
of characters you draw, but I think that themes
are what would really influence someone. Just
my 2 cents.
