Personally,  I wouldn't pay that much.  But
speaking in general, i'm sure there's a hard-core
fan out there that would be willing to pay that
amount.

When I attended the auction at AX 2000 in july,
there were fanart paintings that went for around
$400.  (Correct me if i'm wrong anyone but,)There
was even a drawing of a chair that went for
around $40.   Maybe the buyer got caught up in the
AD video advertising pitch. (The Ad video booth
would hold up a chair and chant while tossing
free stuff.) Though i bet the buyer has wondered
what he was smoking when he made that purchase.
