There are quite a few versions of Escaflowne
releases. The ONLY one that has ALL the footage
is called the Sale Version. This not only has all
the extra footage, but cast interviews as well.
Here's a list of the added stuff that was not
included in the rental version (the rental is
what most people own)

Kurabu (Club) Escaflowne staff interviews (Host:
Mayumi Iizuka, Guests: Shouji Kawamori, Kazuki
Akane), talk (Maaya Sakamoto, Hiroki Wada), and
credit-less ending in Vision.13
Anyway, since your cel is from after episode 7,
and that seems to be where the edited footage
ends, it looks like it may just have been cut out
all together. Or it could be from the scene right
before Hitomi gets kidnapped. Merle sees this
happen then Van has to go save her. They end up
flying off and landing in the forest somewhere.
Am I getting this right? Shoot, it's been a while
and I'm at work right now so I can't confirm.
Alright no more procrastinating, time to earn the
big bucks.
