And now to draw some parallels:
a) Due to some miscommunication, I ended up with
2 copies of a particular imported music CD. I
emailed friends stating as such and only asked
for how much it cost me. Auctioning it was a
last resort for lack of interest.
b) I like to entertain people with what I have--I
want to share my happiness. I'm *glad* I spent
so much on my computer. It doubles as a learning
tool and a toy. I make anime music videos as a
way of sharing. I submitted my second one to
Otakon, and I couldn't care less if it won an
award [but it'd be nice :]--I just wanted to
share!
I'm *glad* I spent so much on home theater
equipment. I bring it to local anime club
meetings to make them sound better. No one
asked, I just showed up with the stuff....
Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't even
consider moving 200-700 pounds of audio equipment
to a location and spending an hour to set it up,
just so I could spend over an hour taking it
apart and transport it back 5-6 hours later.
I've mentioned it already, but I've volunteered
the same equipment to be used at the Ohayocon
convention in January. No one asked. I just
stated that sound for 2 video rooms was accounted
for, and everyone understood.
It pains me to see the arguments on the forum,
but it's going to happen because it's human
nature. The intent and/or tone of a message can
only be guessed at, misinterpretations happen,
jokes miss their mark...
With any luck we learn from our past mistakes,
chose our words with a bit more thought and care,
and hope not to be miunderstood the next time
around.
Everyone has an opinion....
This concludes mine. |
