People keep blank or un-matching pencil sketch behind cels so that they won't stick to another cel when you pill them up. (and it's better to see the cel on a blank background than having nothing). AIC was giving matching pencil until a few years ago. They decided to stop because (official version AIC told me) it makes it harder to do a copy or (my non-official version) they are too lazy to find back the drawing. Cheers, Yann Stettler
