Re: Question: Cel Storage . . . (Thu Feb 3 20:22:53 2000 )

Dear Lady Z,

For most of my oversized cels, ITOYA makes a cel book that
is 14" x 17" which I bought from Usagi's House, who
unfortunately is sold out at the moment =(. The cost there
is $24.00 not including shipping. You can also try your
local art store (not craft store like Michael's). I have
a local art store here called Dick Blick. I don't know if
it is a nationwide chain store though. They carry the
ITOYA cel books which artists use to display their
portfolio. They sell the smaller size ITOYA (the one
smaller than the standard size cel book) plus the standard
size cel book, but the store can special order products if
you desire. The smaller book sells for $7.99 and the
standard sized cel book sells for $9.99 (at it was the last
time I checked).

For cels BIGGER than 14" x 17", I'm pretty clueless as to
how to store them properly. So far, I just put them into
these large flat pizza cardboard boxes which I got from
purchasing other artwork on the net. I even have a box that
is at least 4' x 1' which I use to store the artwork I
bought (an M & M's cel and drawing plus matting) PLUS a
large pan cel I bought that was 3' wide =P! Otherwise, I
would be very clueless on what to do with them! I have
2 other HUGE cels which I have stored in other flat pizza
card board boxes (I think one measures 24" x 27" wide, and
another 24" x 14".) which I obtained from the same person
who sold me the M & M's cel (when I bought another piece of
artwork from him). Fortunately, these large cels came with
some bags for me to put them into before I put them into
the boxes (and I also begged someone for another bag to
separate the background from the cel!)!

Whew! Good luck! If you find out a better way to store
these monster cels, please let me know too!

Sincerely,

Sonia
