well, there are a couple of reasons.
first is the aesthetic quality of the art. a lot of it is
just nice. example: i bought a SM cel, even though i've never
seen the show and know nothing about the chara i bought. i
just thought it was nice.
second, it's a lot more satisfying than buying an action figure
or something like that. i don't own a representation of kuririn--
I own HIM! in all his glory! (such as it is.)
besides, it's cool to have something absolutely no one else has.
it's fun to go through the episodes of an anime and have a certain
thing catch your eye because either you have it or someone
you know does. (this is happening more and more to me ^-^.)
i guess that's about it.
