Question: How do you feel about NON-FAN hand produced 1/1 cels? (Wed Apr 26 23:43:34 2000

Dear Forum, Well, after reading about the discussion about the impending doom of cels in favor of computer colored animation, I have a question. How do you feel about studios producing hand made 1/1 (only 1 will be ever made) cels from their production drawings for collectors? I once tried to buy one of these, but for some reason, the studio accidentally DESTROYED the pencil drawing I had bought to produce the hand made 1/1 cel. I ended up getting a refund =P. I know a few studios are doing this even now (Disney, Fox, etc.) for their new computer generated movies in that they will offer collectors who buy the pencil sketch an opportunity to get the cel reproduced by hand (hand inked and hand painted) by the studio as a 1/1 limited piece. I know after my experience, I haven't thought much about it, but I was wondering how others on this forum felt about collecting such pieces since they aren't exactly the same as the reproductions that are offered in groups of 1000 pieces, but they also aren't exactly an authentic cel. What do you think? Just wondering. Sincerely, Sonia |
