Is there a consensus on dealing with cels which have become
attached to the pencil? I have received conflicting advice
on this topic.
The well-known article by Curtis Hoffman (The Care and
Handling of Animation Cels)suggests taking them
to a gallery, which is not practical if the cost exceeds the
value of the cel. In the same article, Robert Woodhead
advises "gentle peeling" of the pencil (not the cel),
working around the edges of the "stuck bit".
I spoke to a couple of dealers at Expo 98, one advised using
a hair dryer to generate heat, the other advised putting the
cel in the fridge, to generate cold! |
