Dunno... ask people who buy reproductions of Picaso
or VanGogh why they don't buy cheaper posters ?

A cel reproduction is still made by hand. Actualy,
the only differance with a production one is that
it wasn't used directly in the anime and that several
"similar" cels were made.
Think of it as a hand-painted limited edition... it
worth less than a real cel but more than a mere print...
