Yes, it happened. Last year at Anime Expo, a group of
collectors gathered together in a room (about 50 of them),
they were showing, discussing, trading and buying cels from
each other. Surprisingly, most people brought their
cels to the conventions. Some long time and rich collectors
brought their cels to show off their impressive collections.
While some others brought in their unwanted cels, and
tried to trade or sell them.
They did the same thing again at FanimeCon last month.
In a way, this type of con meeting is actually good
because there are always certain cels that you may not
want to keep them. Besides selling them, the other best way
is to trade them with the other people. Plus the meeting
allows all the collectors to actually meet each other in
person instead of chatting with emails or ICQ...etc.
If you are going to Anime Expo this year, be sure to drop
to this cel collector meeting. I don't know the other
cons have such meetings or not. |
