I know a lot of people who have, and I occasionally
do that myself.  Sometimes they turn out to be worth more
than you think, both sentimentally (after you actually see
the show) and sometimes financially. =)

However, I find it more satisfying to save up that extra
$100.00 for a beautiful cel from a scene that I loved
more so than to spend $30.00 on that dreamy anime hunk
that I've never seen before... my "relationship" with the
piece I know and love with probably last longer than some
$30.00 fling...(laugh)

However, I do own a few cels I bought from series I'd never
seen, later saw the series, and now adore those cels... so
it can go both ways.  =)
