If the drawing is simple with very less colors, it only
needs a few colors to paint on the cel, the cel painting is
usually smooth in this case since there're not many colors
to stack up each other. If the drawing is complex, like
many different colors on the face, there'll more colors
stacking up on each different color, so the cel will
become more thicker.
Also, some painters simply splash a big chunk of paint
on the cel without spreading the paint evenly across
the cel surface, so the cel paint is often very thick.
As long as the other side of the cel looks good, they
don't care about the painted side anyway whether the paint
is evenly spread out or just a thick layer.
Anyway, whether the paint is smooth or thick, it does
happen all the time, so the situation is normal. |
