An unused cel, or a forgery? (Mon Sep 27 10:33:25 1999
) Skorp skorp@earthlink.net |
I was watching a video to find a cel I recently bought, and found that the frame did not appear in the video. There is a sequence of very similar cels, and it looks like mine would fit into the sequence if it continued for one or two more frames (the cel itself is labeled end, but I don't have the sketch). But instead the scene switches to another character. I assume it must be fairly common for a studio to have cels made, and then cut out some of them in the editing process. So I'm wondering, would this still be a "production" cel? Would "edited out" cels be worthless, or only slightly less desirable than other cels, something rare, or just the same as any other cel? Or is my cel more likely to be a forgery? I've purchased other cels from this dealer, and consider them reputable. I don't think it's valuable enough to be worth the effort to forge. If anyone can give me more information on this type of cel, an apparent production cel which doesn't appear in the film, I'd appreciate it. Skorp |
