I've just found a couple of winners recently:
Imadoki - Yuu Watase's new series - no fantasy
('cept for a pet fox!), but a gorgeous bish and
the most determinedly-cheerful-girl variation on
the "working-class-girl-goes-to upper-crust-
school" scenario. (up to ish 2 so far)
Hot Gimmick - Bishies, misunderstandings,
discovering what you want in life - The heroine
and her family live in one of those corporation-
provided apartment complexes, where the woman in
charge rules like an evil queen and one bad move
or hint of scandal on your part not only can you
ostracized by the other families, your father's
job location can get changed! You got the queen's
son, who's as relationship-clueless as Tsukasa
Domyoji at times, an old friend with a terrible
secret agenda, and plot twists and turns as good
as Hana Yori Dango! (up to bk. 6 so far)
Saiyuki - excellent, of course! (up to #4)
The Wallflower - this has only come out with the
first issue, but is great! Take 4 gorgeous guys
living in a boarding house - for free, if they
can turn the absentee landlady's niece into a
lady. The problem is, the niece was once told by
the boy she adored that she was ugly - and for
two years now has avoided - everything! Her bangs
cover her face, she's into horror/slasher movies,
her thoughts are a mash of gothic hyperbole - And
she thinks of the boys as "creatures of light" in
whose presence she will melt and burn away! The
style is alternately eye-candy realistic and SD
wacky! |
