If you had animanga on the restricted list than
the spyware probably did not come from animanga.
The worst part about spyware is that it doesn't
always come from where it first rears its ugly
head. Trust me, it happened to me last year when
I had no web pages even open on my desktop. Often,
all it takes is for one little thing to be
downloaded from any site, and that starts a
cascade of more and more spyware installing
itself. It's possible that it comes from the
advertising here, but those ads are not based in
the animanga domain, so blocking stuff from
animanga won't help with that. The only way to
stop the flood of spyware is to *gulp* dare I say
it, get a better browser - or install better
security software to work with IE. Really, the
Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, and Netscape browsers are
not evil - and it is agreed upon by many computer
professionals that any of them is better than IE
if you're concerned about security. If that
doesn't satisfy you, then perhaps you should buy a
Mac.
If I were you, if your OS is so badly corrupted
that its not even usable and a program like
Ad-Aware or Spybot S&D doesn't help, then you
should re-format your system and re-install
Windows from scratch. If you're running WinME or
WinXP, you may even be able to roll back to an
earlier restore point. Make sure you run Windows
Update before doing anything else online as well.
My highest recommendation to everyone is to have a
good, active Anti Virus program and a firewall. Do
your homework and learn how to properly secure
your computer -- I promise -- you'll have a lot
fewer problems with spyware, viruses, and the like. |
