Yes, I won't pronounce myself : what most people
posted are their opinion. But I could post
arguments that (at least seems to) directly goes
against Mr. Alonso claim.
Again, I don't say that Mr. Alonso's claim is
wrong or not : Nobody as the information for this.
I only say that I am in the situation of a
customer that bought 1 cel from a public shop in
Japan that sell such cels opening since half a
year.
Anybody can say "this or that cel is stolen". Does
it make it true ? no. You need proof to such a
claim. Currently, from my point of view, it's the
word of Mr. Alonso against the one of the
Mandarake.
Any reason I (or any other customer) should
believe Mr. Alonso more than the Mandarake ?
> 'Berne convention' this and 'weblaw' that.
If you speak of "human right", it's Geneva, not
Bern :)
There isn't any law. There is only a guidline for
good behaviour on internet. (called Netiquette).
Yes, it say that it's bad to post private messages
without agreement of the author. Mostly because in
a private conversation you may say things that you
wouldn't if you were speaking before a public and
because if you post only a small part of a
conversation, it's taken out of context and that
be interpreted incorrectly.
Mr. Alonso's mail had nothing private : it's a
kind of legal notice. It's not a part of a
conversation, it wasn't edited, modified or taken
out of context. It was posted as is and mean
exactly what it contains.
> Someone lets you know about the potential of
> stolen cels, you go out and buy one.
Many people let know many things on various
subject. I was thinking that only religion was
supposed to be a matter of pure faith...
Fact is, as someone mentioned, several months
after some people heard those cels are supposed to
be stolen, large japanese shops continue to sell
them. Not in back-room, not even in binders but
exhibited in their showcases for everybody to see.
We should believe claim just because someone told
us something ? So you will like this one : I heard
that the policy went to some of those shops.
Discussed with their owners. Find out where the
cels were coming from. And then left with a "Oh,
in that case it's allright that you sell them.
Sorry for the bother..."
Naturaly, it's only what I heard. I wasn't there
myself when it's supposed to have happened so I
dunno if it's true or not.
Naturaly, I asked the advice of the other main
party involved in the case of my cel : The
Mandarake shop from which I bought it. I sure
won't forget to let you know their answer on this
subject.
Cheers,
