IMO Quality (Mon May 27 18:37:20 2002 )

Why? B/w not everyone can afford myself included
to collect every series and everything that
catches their eye. Some of us aren't obessive as
the larger cel collectors, e.g. Yann or Young
both of which cornered the market on the series
they collected. E.g. Yann for Shamanic, Vision
from BGC OVAs, Iczer 1 and 3, Dangaio and Young
for KOR. When I look at their galleries I wonder
holey shi#, how much $$ did they blow?!

I hardly feel left out like when I first saw
their treasures over four years ago. In fact, I
once felt really discouraged to collect cels from
a series that was widely known as the series abc
dealer collected. But quality not quantity helped
myself still retain hope that I too could find
something nice. ^_^

Afterall, as a older cel collector, IMHO, many of
us become more selective of what we spend our
hard earned $ on. I for one am at the point where
I'm buying a house and I'd rather do that, than
fight over a piece of acetate which is
deteriorating with the passage of time. More
power to the remaining cel collectors who can and
do spend seemingly questionable amounts of money
on cels; but for the rest of us, as we undeniably
get older and wiser (hopefully), we plan for the
future, which most of the time includes buying a
home.

Also just to keep this in perspective a few years
ago at AX (those who went might recall this), a
KOR original drawing was being auctioned at the
end of AX. It got close to $38k! Young almost bid
on it but a wise friend of his told him not too
and look at the big picture. Smart guy that
Francis dude was. B/c had Young won, he'd had
spend nearly the necessary amount for downpayment
on his BMW as he did for a albeit lovely original
Takada Akemi work of art as he did for a BMW!
Truly quality NOT quantity is the key and
moderation in our vices helps too. Are you
reading this Yann? ^_^;;

Lastly in response to your original questions,
for galleries only the nicer cels. The subpar
cels or backs and bodyparts aren't worthy of
being posted. Simply b/c those cels IMHO aren't
worth the interest of most who view online
galleries and I'd certainly resell them somehow
to weed out the collection. Which would you
rather have 100 cels 70% being C - D grade cels,
with 30% A-B grade cels or 100% A-B grade cels?
I'd go with the second option just b/c those cels
are probably nicer in quality and the quantity of
the cels we have really shouldn't be
proportionate to our enjoyment of them, having a
higher quality cel even if it's just one, helps.

Peace.
