Well, I just use PowerDVD to take screencaps of
DVDs and then ACDSee's FotoCanvas Lite tool to
shrink the cap down to size. That's it.
As far as nice caps go, it usually depends on
the quality of the DVD. There are quite a few
DVDs out there that just look like crap.
As far as 'crisp' caps go, FotoCanvas Lite has a
resizing formula (Lanczos set by default) that
doesn't make shrunken pics blurry.
Basically, 720x520 screencap (or 720x480 without
auto resize) taken by PowerDVD -> 320x240
screencap via FotoCanvas Lite. Not sure if that
helps any, but that's how I do it.
