So, we all gathered into the dept meeting:
The general manager of the division got up and
started talking.
He told us that as a part of lowering the budget,
our entire department was going to be cut.
My particular part of the dept wasn't too
shocked, as we had been expecting it, but other
parts of the dept had thought they were fairly
safe until then.
They talked about some of the details, then took
questions. As I had previously mentioned, I was
expecting to likely be cut, so I had already set
up an interview with a manager from a different
dept immediately after the meeting, so I ran over
to the next building to meet with him.
We talked for a while and it seemed like I had
exactly the right set of skills that he needed.
He made me a job offer and I accepted..just have
to go through all the formalities now, but at
least I don't have to worry about being out of
work and having to find a new job or cheaper
house.
Plus, one of my best friends works in that group
(and was responsible for me knowing about the
position)...so, will get to work together for the
first time in about three years.
Right now, it seems like a good position, and I'm
a lot happier now that the uncertainty is gone
and I can move on with my life (knowing that I
can still afford to buy cels ;) )
