Hey, I have had a few questions about Hanken
cel’s for a while so I though I would finally ask.
One of the reasons for Hanken cel’s being so
expensive (excluding the quality of the artwork)
it that I have heard that some of them come with
the copyrights to the image. I was wondering how
common it is for the cel to include the copyright
of the image, like is that the case for most of
them, some of them, or just a few of them? A
basic estimate at percentages would be very
helpful.
Also, how do you know if a Hanken cel does
contain the copyright to that image? I know that
some come with a certificate, is that just a
certificate of authenticity or does it tell you
other things about the cel?
Finally, a sort of legal question; if you own a
Hanken cel that comes with the rights to the
image does that mean that you can use that image
to say promote your own business? I can just see
some company going; “well we need a new
advertisement campaign but I don’t want to higher
some advertising consultant, so why don’t we just
buy that there pretty picture slap our company
name on it and send it off to the printers”. Not
that anyone would actually do that, I just have a
very active imagination.
Thanks for your time and help.
