I'm settled in the new place and I just spent a fab day
down at the Sackler, I've kind of gathered that there are
quite a few folks posting from the general area so I'm
proposing a fun day of cel geek bonding. The Freer
has free movies and on Sunday Oct 6th they are
featuring Sharaku "Masahiro Shinoda's beautifully
wrought evocation of eighteenth-century Japan is a
fictional meditation on the life of Sharaku, the
mysterious ukiyo-e woodblock-print artist who created
all of his works in a single year and then disappeared."
I figured woodblock prints are the original cels
...anyway after the movie I can host a little gathering,
I'm a 10 min walk from the gallery. I can provide snacks
if others can contribute cel book entertainment and
perhaps some beverages. Please email me if anyone
thinks this would be fun. |
