This is a copy of a post from M. Ergezi:

"There is a Japanese contemporary art and pop
culture exhibit through January 5, 2003 at the
Akron Art Museum (Ohio). Dubbed "My Reality"
the display started in September and we finally
had a chance to sneak over Thanksgiving weekend
for a look. We read in the paper that the grand
opening of the exhibit was the most well
attended event in the musuem's history!

It consists of sculpture, paintings,
photography, video art (many by a talented
artist Momoyo Torimitsu) and of course, cels.
They were displayed in the manga (japanese
graphic novel/comic book) reading room. Though
nothing rare or unusual (many of your
collections outshine it by far I'm sure, but) it
was nice to see the display of about 20 cels
from Nadia, Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, DNA2,
Magic Users Club, El Hazard,Photon and Maison
Ikkoku.

According to the brochure at the exhibit, the
display will be traveling next to the Norton
Museum of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida
(Norton Museum of Art) Spring 2003 and then to
The Huntsville Museum of Art in Alabama Oct 2003-
Jan 2004. There is a brief description of the
exhibit on the curator's site
http://www.ici-
exhibitions.org/Exhibitions/Reality/reality.htm.

The exhibit was not vast but fun and colorful.
I encourage any of you in the area to attend
(free admission). This will help show that
there is interest in anime and to keep displays
like this in the limelight! (As a side note -
several terrific Warhol's are back out on
display including Elvis and the Brillo boxes.
The Akron Art Museum has limited space and needs
to rotate pieces, but are making big plans to
expand!)

Thanks for listening - feel free to call me with
questions or call the museum at 330-376-9185 for
details."

Hope some of you will be able to enjoy the
exhibit!
